Job summary

Waymo is seeking a data-centric AI expert to own the data recipe for foundation model pre-training and post-training. You will lead data-centric research, guiding clustering, filtering, de-duplication, and long-tail data mining while coordinating with Waymo's research engineers to scale data workflows across massive driving datasets.

The role requires a PhD or MS in CS/ML/Robotics with demonstrated publications, strong ML framework knowledge, and a track record of big-data experimentation.

Qualifications

• Publications or open-source contributions demonstrate impact
• Strong practical experience with ML frameworks and large-scale data

Responsibilities

• Own the data recipe for Waymo's Foundation Model pre-training and post-training
• Lead science on data curation, clustering, filtering, de-duplication, long-tail data mining
• Tech-lead a research engineering team to build the data flywheel
• Integrate emerging research and run rigorous ablations for data research techniques
• Engage with the research community on data-centric evaluation and refinement
• Partner with engineering and research teams to share recipes and best practices
