Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead discovery and preclinical development for obesity and related cardiometabolic diseases. You will design translational pharmacology strategies, integrate diverse data, and guide programs from target validation to candidate selection.

Qualifications

  • Extensive GPCR biology, pharmacology and signaling expertise.
  • In vitro pharmacology assays including functional signaling, ligand-binding and bias analyses.
  • In vivo pharmacology studies supporting target validation and MOA.
  • Integration of in vitro/in vivo/pharmacokinetics/biomarker data to guide decisions.
  • Proven scientific leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific leadership for obesity and cardiometabolic disease programs from discovery through candidate selection.
  • Design and implement translational pharmacology strategies for novel mechanisms.
  • Oversee in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies and interpret results.
  • Drive data-driven decisions with rigorous analysis and cross-functional input.
  • Mentor scientists and foster scientific excellence and collaboration.
  • Present findings to project teams and senior leadership; contribute to publications.
