Job summary

Chelan High School seeks a dedicated Science Olympiad Advisor to mentor a high school team through rigorous academic preparation, engineering builds, and lab challenges. You will recruit students, run weekly practices, and coordinate regional and state competitions, fostering curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities include managing logistics, supervising hands-on builds and labs, ensuring safety, and communicating with parents and district staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in STEM or Education preferred.
• Passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to pass a Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint background check.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Preferred: Washington State Teaching Certificate and prior Science Olympiad/STEM coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and lead the Science Olympiad team at Chelan High School.
• Recruit, select, and organize students for 23 events across disciplines.
• Facilitate after-school practice sessions with guidance and materials.
• Oversee hands-on build projects and ensure safety compliance.
• Supervise laboratory practice sessions and safety protocols.
• Register the team with Washington Science Olympiad and manage regional/state documentation.
• Coordinate transportation, chaperones, schedules, and medical forms.
• Manage the team budget and resources; communicate with parents and administrators.
