Job summary

The Jefferson County Board of Education is seeking a Child Nutrition Program Manager to provide direction, planning, monitoring and oversight of local CNP operations in Jefferson County Schools, including Birmingham. You will oversee food preparation, storage, and compliance with nutrition guidelines to support student wellness.

Daily responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining records, coordinating with principals and health authorities, and ensuring timely reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet suitability criteria under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Minimum of one year of nutrition, supervision, planning and monitoring experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
• Ability to supervise, develop and evaluate assigned personnel according to school system procedures.
• Demonstrate leadership, organization, collaboration, and planning skills.
• Possess and maintain health certifications including tuberculin skin test results.
• Health certifications as required by Jefferson County Health Department or NRA.
• Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system, its vision, goals and priorities.
• Supervises and assists in preparation and service of food according to the written menu.
• Maintains records including personnel, financial, inventories and purchasing.
• Promotes the goals and objectives of the school food service program to students, parents and community.
• Ensures menus are followed and updated for commodity arrivals and vendor shortages.
• Purchases food and supplies and checks orders and invoices for accuracy.
• Oversees storeroom security and cafeteria areas.
• Instructs and supervises CNP personnel in use of recipes and procedures.
• Plans duties and work schedules for CNP staff according to policies.
• Collaborates with principals and supervisors to provide positive learning experiences.
