Job summary

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Registered Nurse or BSN for the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD) in Jefferson City, MO. Salary ranges from $46,272 to $49,872, with possible adjustments for years of service or shift differentials.

Responsibilities include health screenings, health care procedures, medication administration, and coordination of IEP health planning.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a registered nurse in Missouri.
• Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement a plan for health screenings.
• Coordinate, design and implement special health care procedures.
• Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection-control procedures, dispensing medication, CPR and other in-service as needed.
• Administer medication and other health care procedures.
• Follow proper nursing procedures and maintain appropriate documentation.
• Participate in staffing and IEP conferences to provide information on the student's physical and health needs when requested.
• Oversee all SHCP. Make sure they are completed correctly, and all necessary supplies are available.
• Utilize each student's individual communication system.
• Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
• Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
• Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an orderly, attractive, safe, and clean environment.
• Maintain CPR training instructor certification.
• Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff personally identifiable information.
