Job summary

Taher, Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Chef for a school lunch program to lead a kitchen team with daytime hours, Monday through Friday.

You will ensure USDA regulations are followed, meals meet quality standards, and menus are developed from standardized recipes. You will manage purchasing, inventory, and cost controls, maintain a safe kitchen, and train staff while delivering high-quality, nutritious meals with a focus on service and compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in culinary arts or at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Exemplary customer service skills.
• Purchasing experience and ability to control food cost.
• Ability to manage, train, and motivate a team.
• Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous catering experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Ensure USDA regulations are followed.
• Ensure meals are prepared on time and meet quality standards.
• Manage ordering, receiving, storing, and inventory control of perishables with HACCP.
• Control waste and manage costs to budget.
• Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe kitchen.
• Set monthly food and labor cost goals and conduct cost control analysis.
• Follow standardized recipes, write menus, and monitor costs.
• Assist in managing and training team.
• Lead catering functions as needed.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by leadership.
