Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a skilled Carpenter 2 to perform advanced carpentry tasks within the Facilities Management Department. The role involves remodeling, maintenance, and repairs of district facilities, including interior and exterior finishes, flooring, doors, and hardware.

Responsibilities include coordinating with vendors, supervising projects, and ensuring safety and compliance with codes.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of varied journey-level carpentry experience.
  • Completion of a recognized four (4) year carpentry apprenticeship program AND two (2) years of varied journey-level carpentry experience.
  • Knowledge of building codes (IBC) and safety practices (OSHA).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, sketches and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Carpentry: Rough and finish carpentry including cabinetry, doors, and hardware.
  • Interior finishes: Painting, tile, acoustical ceilings, walls; exterior finishes including siding and roofing.
  • Flooring and concrete work: tile floors, forming and finishing concrete.
  • Site equipment and special structures: scaffolds, bleachers, playgrounds, and related facilities.
  • Coordinate with vendors, obtain quotes, and supervise projects for compliance.
