Job summary

Los Angeles Unified School District seeks a skilled Carpenter to construct, alter, maintain, install and repair wood structures and related materials across district facilities. Responsibilities include building concrete forms, measuring and installing sheathing, trim, and hardware, and assisting in material lists and cost estimates.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and either completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or five years of journey-level carpentry experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program or five years of experience in carpentry work on buildings, one year at journey level.
• Valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in California.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, alters, and repairs structures related to floors, ceilings, roofs, stairways, doors, windows, cabinets, and trim.
• Builds forms for concrete construction and measures, saws, and installs sheathing for walls and roofs.
• Installs locks and other building hardware and may assist in material lists and cost estimates.
