Job summary

Albanyschools at Montessori Magnet School is seeking a Custodian for the 1st shift. The role involves extensive cleaning, minor maintenance, and potential supervision of a small team of cleaners.

Work is Monday through Friday on an open competitive civil service basis with chances for promotional opportunities within APSUE. The position requires the ability to perform heavy manual tasks, manage supplies, and operate basic building systems, with emphasis on safety and efficiency in daily school

Qualifications

• One year of experience in building cleaning or minor maintenance activities.
• Promotional opportunity for current APSUE Members in the Custodial Worker title.
• Open Competitive or Promotional Civil Service position for external and internal candidates.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops and waxes floors, washes and cleans walls and windows, dusts furniture and performs other cleaning duties.
• Cleans and mops lavatories, halls, stairwells, locker and shower rooms and replaces soap and towels.
• May assign and check the work of a few Cleaners and Custodial Workers.
• Empties waste baskets, collects and disposes of rubbish from in and outside the school.
• Mows lawns, trims shrubs, rakes leaves, removes snow and ice from walks and driveways and performs groundskeeping tasks.
