Seeking applicants for Lead School Counselor (PreK-4) or the 2025-26 school year.

JOB SUMMARY

The lead counselor will be responsible for leadership, communication,and coordination of school counselors.

The lead counselor will collaborate with administrators in problem solving and decision making, keep in perspective the counseling program goals, and keep the principal informed.

The lead counselor will be responsible to the principal for providing support in the progress, efficiency, and quality of services in the counseling program.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Informs principals or his/her designee of the needs and challenges of the department as may be necessary.
• Facilitates departmental meetings, PLCs, and coordinates activities among counselors; but, not responsible for supervision and evaluation of counselors.
• Supports the development, articulation and implementation of SEL curriculum and content.
• Assists in orienting new counselors in the department and assists in assigning mentors to new counselors.
• Works with building principals and Director of Curriculum and Instruction to conduct research, compile data, and make specific recommendations for improvement.
• Assists the administration in the placement of interns.
• Recommends training for members of the department, as may be necessary, and assists in the content specific activities and goals in Developing Educator Plans, Directed Growth Plans, and Improvement Plans with content specific recommendations.
• May assist in interviewing of candidates for counseling positions.
• Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the Principal or designee.

Job Requirements

• ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  Work is generally conducted within school buildings. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the classroom. Work is light in nature with regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
