Job summary

Westfield High School in Westfield, MA seeks a Lead School Counselor for the 2025-26 school year to provide leadership and coordination of the school counseling program. The role reports to the Building Principal and emphasizes SEL initiatives and program improvement.

Qualifications

• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
• Ability to travel within the school building; light lifting up to 25 pounds
• Regular attendance is essential

Responsibilities

• Informs principals or their designee of departmental needs and challenges
• Facilitates meetings and coordinates activities among counselors; not responsible for supervision
• Supports development and implementation of SEL curriculum and content
• Assists in orienting new counselors and assigning mentors
• collaborates with administrators to research, analyze data, and make recommendations for improvement
• Assists with intern placements
• Recommends training and supports in Educator Plans and Growth/Improvement Plans
• May assist in interviewing candidates for counseling positions
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee
