Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals in a Mineral County School lunch program. The role reports to the Principal and Cafeteria Manager and is governed by WV Code 18A-4-8b and related policies. The position is non-exempt and follows a 200-day employment term.

Salary is set by Pay Grade C on the Mineral County Salary Schedule and commensurate with experience and education. Occasional in-services and workshops are required.

Qualifications

• Meet WV Code qualifications and competency test requirements.
• Evidence of good personal cleanliness;
• Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code sections.

Responsibilities

• Prepares a variety of menu items for daily service.
• Maintains temperature readings.
• Assembles, measures, and mixes ingredients for a variety of food items.
• Reads and interprets written recipes and directions.
• Participates in cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage and dining areas.
• Sets up and arranges food to be served daily.
• Participates in preparation and serving of food.
• Receives and inspects incoming food and supplies.
• Stores food and supplies as directed by Cafeteria Manager.
• Attends in-services and workshops as directed.
• Maintains positive pupil, staff, and community relations.
• Maintains and/or upgrades skills.
• Performs duties efficiently and productively.
• Maintains positive work habits.
• Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct and policy.
• Performs duties as assigned by supervisors.
