Job summary

Rogers School District School Services in Rogers, Arkansas is seeking a Lead Mechanic to oversee the bus shop operations and ensure timely maintenance of the fleet.

The ideal candidate will have vehicle maintenance and diesel mechanic skills, a clean driving record, and a Class A/B CDL with Passenger and SchoolBus endorsements. The role requires shift flexibility and strong organizational abilities.

Qualifications

• Must have training and knowledge of vehicle maintenance and diesel mechanic skills.
• ASE certification or prior training; prior work experience or on-the-job training.
• Must have a clean driving record and must carry or be willing to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL with Passenger and SchoolBus endorsements.
• Must be responsible and able to work opening and closing shifts in the shop.
• High school diploma; strong organizational, mechanical, electrical, and technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Will supervise the shop and mechanics and manage work assignments for all shop employees.
• Will assist with driver concerns and communicate with bus attendants, substitutes, mentors, and other transportation staff; work with Shop Manager and Operations Manager.
• Ensure bus maintenance and repairs are current and complete; maintain vehicle fleet records.
• Assist with scheduling vehicle maintenance, outsourcing, and factory warranty issues/recalls as needed.
• Assist with purchasing of vehicles, equipment, tools, fuel, and related budgeting procedures; assist with record keeping.
• Address mechanical and personnel issues, safety concerns, and complete accident investigations and insurance claims relating to buses and school vehicles.
• Will perform other duties as assigned.
