Job summary

Beebe School District is seeking a Transportation Department Bus Mechanic to plan, schedule, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on the transportation fleet. The role ensures buses are in safe operating condition and requires documenting repairs to meet state and federal standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of bus/mech experience, a CDL with School Bus endorsement (or ability to obtain within 3 months), and knowledge of Arkansas school bus safety inspections.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years documented experience repairing and servicing school buses or medium duty trucks.
• Demonstrated success in performing a wide variety of tasks requiring a proficient understanding of school bus repair.
• Valid CDL license with School Bus endorsement, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
• Knowledge of Arkansas state school bus safety inspection procedures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose potential vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic equipment to determine needed repairs.
• Inspect, clean, adjust, tighten, and repair minor items such as lights and lenses.
• Repair brakes, steering, electrical, air conditioning, and heating systems.
• Replace or repair minor body parts, floors, fenders, and dents.
• Service buses and vehicles for maintenance and document repairs.
• Maintain repair records and respond to emergencies as needed.
