Job summary

San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Transportation Department is seeking a Lead Mechanic to supervise on-site vehicle mechanics and perform major repairs to ensure safety and reliability of district vehicles. The role requires Master ASE for school bus and a Texas CDL with P and S endorsements; 3+ years of mechanic experience is expected.

You will lead a team, maintain PM records, and train staff.

Qualifications

• Three years experience as a mechanic.
• Must hold Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger and School Bus endorsements (P/S).
• Master ASE Certification for school bus required.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and inspections on all district vehicles in a timely and efficient manner.
• Rebuild, replace, or repair major components and systems including engines, transmissions, and suspensions.
• Estimate time and materials for major repairs and ensure quality through inspection.
• Assist the Shop Foreman with assigning work and train mechanics and assistants.
• Attend professional development and maintain ASE certifications.
