Job summary

Prosper ISD Transportation is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain and repair district vehicles. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, perform repairs on school buses, and conduct preventive maintenance to ensure safe operation.

The role requires a CDL with P and S endorsements or the ability to obtain them within six weeks, HS diploma or GED, and ASE certifications are a plus. Expect a full-time on-site position with varying hours in a district fleet.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED is required
• CDL with P/S endorsements or ability to obtain within six weeks
• ASE certifications preferred for advanced maintenance

Responsibilities

• Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues in district vehicles.
• Perform minor and major mechanical repairs on school buses and other district vehicles.
• Conduct preventive maintenance services according to schedules.
• Rotate and balance tires, change oil and filters, and inspect components.
• Maintain accurate repair and labor time records.
