Job summary

Cabarrus County Schools is seeking a Lead Bus Driver at Mt. Pleasant Middle in Mount Pleasant, NC. The role supports transportation planning, ensures route coverage, and mentors substitute drivers.

Starting immediately, the position is full-time with a focus on safety and efficiency. The candidate should have at least a high school diploma or GED and one year of NC school bus driving experience, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be able to physically drive and evacuate a wide variety of bus types.
• Must have extensive knowledge of and skill in operating a school bus.
• Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, drivers and Transportation staff.
• Must have knowledge of geography of assigned area and streets.
• Must be able to organize, manage and train people; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• One year of driving experience as a school bus driver.

Responsibilities

• Drives any route as needed and coordinates with Transportation Planner for coverage.
• Monitors AM/PM runs and notifies planner of issues.
• Trains substitute drivers on routes and required documents.
• Ensures route compliance and TIMS adherence.
• Maintains bus routes, seating charts and related documents.
• Supports in bus safety training and driver development.
• Delivers buses for maintenance and ensures duty coverage.
