Job summary

Cabarrus County School District's Roberta Road Middle in Concord, NC is seeking a Lead Bus Driver to supervise and coordinate school bus operations, ensure on-time coverage, and mentor substitute drivers. This full-time role reports to the School Bus Supervisor/Transportation Planner and requires NC CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and at least one year of NC school bus driving experience, plus FMCSA Clearinghouse

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred and 1 year NC school bus driving experience.
• Must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus endorsement in NC.
• FMCSA Clearinghouse registration required.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Ability to organize, train people and mentor substitute drivers.

Responsibilities

• Drives routes and coordinates bus coverage with Transportation Planner.
• Monitors AM/PM runs to ensure coverage and reports tardy drivers.
• Trains substitute drivers on routes and required documents.
• Maintains bus routes, seating charts and transportation records.
• Assists in bus safety training and in developing training materials.
• Monitors pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and bus cleanliness.
• Delivers buses for maintenance and reports violations of procedures.
