Job summary

MISTRAS Group, Inc. seeks a Scaffold Superintendent to plan, estimate, erect, inspect, and dismantle scaffolding systems on construction, refinery, plant, and offshore projects.

You will lead scaffold crews, coordinate resources, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with OSHA and client requirements, while maintaining safety and schedule integrity. You will serve as the primary client contact, conduct job walks, provide constructability reviews, and develop scaffold estimates.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of scaffolding experience in offshore, refinery, petrochemical, industrial, or construction environments.
• 5+ years of supervisory or superintendent-level scaffold experience.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L and scaffold safety regulations.
• Ability to lead crews, manage multiple priorities, and maintain project schedules.
• Strong understanding of scaffold design, estimating, material management, and jobsite safety.
• Must supply and maintain personal hand tools required for the position.
• Must possess a valid TWIC Card.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary client contact for scaffold-related project activities and requirements.
• Lead and supervise scaffold crews, reporting to the Scaffold Operations Manager or Scaffold Project Manager.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through behavior-based observations and compliance with safety standards.
• Provide onsite supervision and complete documentation, including permits, sign-offs, JSEAs, safety plans, and project records.
• Perform hands-on scaffold work when required by project management.
• Manage scaffold material inventories and ensure materials support project schedules.
• Coordinate delivery, transfer, and return of scaffold materials and equipment.
• Conduct job walks with clients and internal stakeholders to assess scope, site access, and hazards.
• Develop and support scaffold estimates, including labor, material, equipment, and schedule requirements.
• Provide constructability reviews and recommend efficient scaffold designs during planning and bidding phases.
• Identify scope changes and communicate impacts to operations and project management.
• Oversee erection, modification, and dismantling of various access systems (system scaffolding and tube-and-clamp).
• Conduct daily scaffold inspections as Competent Person and ensure equipment is safe.
• Verify scaffold material condition and perform minor equipment maintenance.
• Support construction operations including rigging and material handling, crane assistance, and proper rigging practices.
• Work at heights exceeding 200 feet and in offshore facilities when required.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
