Dellavalle Laboratory seeks an experienced agricultural sales professional with a strong background in farming and agronomy. You will build relationships, generate revenue by developing new business, and expand existing accounts, bridging technical services to field operations.

The role emphasizes hunter mindset, robust client management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-system environment with up to 25% travel. Strong communication and organization are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Agricultural background strictly required.
  • Experience in ag retail, agronomy, crop production, farming, or related sectors strongly valued.
  • Executive-level communication with high-level leaders, business owners, growers, retailers, and technical users alike.
  • Proven computer and software proficiency; comfortable navigating multiple systems.
  • Valid CA driver’s license; ability to drive up to 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively prospect for opportunities in ag retail and grower segments, as well as other industries. Own the full sales cycle from lead development through closing.
  • Navigate relationships within large agriculture-related companies and large corporate farming operations to position our services for large-scale adoption.
  • Develop a deep understanding of prospective customer goals and advise them on best practices to maximize ROI from our services.
  • Track key sales activities, pipeline metrics, and success measures to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Bring expertise and initiative while remaining open to coaching, feedback, new processes, and continued learning.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering phones, responding to emails.
  • Expand sales with existing clients by introducing additional services, products, and solutions.
  • Maintain accurate weekly sales activity logs detailing client contacts, type of communication, key discussion points, pipeline status, follow-up actions, and other relevant client information.
  • Monitor past-due accounts and assist with collections to ensure positive cash flow.
  • Develop strong relationships with distributors, growers, and key industry stakeholders to maximize opportunities.
  • Position the company as a trusted partner by combining strong product knowledge with sales acumen.
  • Present solutions in a clear, value-focused manner that addresses client needs and drives purchase decisions.
  • Attend grower meetings, trade shows, and industry events to represent the company and generate qualified leads.
  • Provide clear proposals, contracts, and follow-up communications to close business efficiently.
  • May supervise Field Technicians schedules, duties, and ensure Field Technicians are delivering samples to the Laboratory in a timely manner.
  • Stay updated on the latest research, technology, and industry trends in agronomy through continuous learning and professional development.

We're seeking an experienced salesperson with a strong sales background and practical understanding of agriculture. Your familiarity with agricultural practices and how large farming operations function will make working with prospective customers more natural. In this role, you'll build strong relationships, generate revenue by developing new business and growing existing accounts, and help prospective customers identify the value of Dellavalle Laboratory's services for their operation. You'll be the bridge between our technical services and the people who rely on them to drive real results in the field.

What We’re Looking For

  • Agricultural background strictly required: experience in ag retail, agronomy, crop production, or related sectors is a strong plus, but growing up around farming might be enough with a strong sales background; let's talk.
  • Agronomy / PCA background: Valuable but not strictly required.
  • Executive level communication skills: You can clearly and confidently speak with high-level leaders, business owners, and technical users alike.
  • Proven computer and software proficiency: Comfortable navigating multiple systems, learning new tools, and guiding others through them.
  • Highly organized - Able to manage multiple opportunities and related tasks in disparate arenas simultaneously.
  • Hunter mindset: You enjoy the hunt and have a history of success at it.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:
  • Excellent and precise data entry and typing skills. Good communication, excellent organizational skills, and detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • A bility to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Performs and manages multiple tasks efficiently, precisely, and safely.
  • Ability to work in Dropbox and google maps.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced – multicultural environment.
  • Valid CA driver’s license and a good driving record are required. Driving up to 25% of the time.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience:
  • B.S./B.A. or equivalent in a Ag or science related field including, but not limited to Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
  • 1-3 years’ experience.

Agricultural background - strictly required. Experience in ag retail, agronomy, crop production, farming, or related sectors is strongly valued. Growing up around farming may qualify when paired with a strong sales background.
