Job summary

Dollar General is looking for a dependable Cashier/Stocker who can lead when the Store Manager is away. You will help set and maintain plan-o-grams, provide exceptional customer service, and safeguard store assets while maximizing profitability and teamwork.

Key duties include unloading trucks, stocking shelves, operating the cash register, and maintaining a clean, safe store environment. This full-time, on-site role emphasizes teamwork and strong customer focus.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Ability to use IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and written communications skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock merchandise and build displays; rotate stock.
• Restock returned merchandise.
• Order zones and drop shipments as directed by the Store Manager.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety (bail cardboard, dust, mop, restrooms, stockroom).
• Greet customers entering the store and manage front-end operations.
• Operate cash register and bag merchandise; process payments and make change.
• Clean front end and set up sidewalk displays.
• Support a clean, well-organized store and a safe environment.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company SOPs and policies.
• Open/close the store under Area Manager direction.
• In the absence of Store Manager: authorize refunds and overrides; manage cash and deposits.
• Maintain cashier accountability and security practices; monitor cash levels.
