Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Cashier/Stocker who can lead when Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager are absent. You will help set and maintain plan-o-grams, provide exemplary customer service, and support profitability, customer satisfaction, and teamwork while protecting store assets.

You will unload trucks, stock and rotate merchandise, stock displays, and operate the register. A high school diploma and some supervisory experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to store procedures.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock merchandise; rotate and face on shelves and build displays.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Operate cash register and bag merchandise; collect payment and make change.
• Greet customers and maintain a clean, safe shopping environment.
• Open or close the store under Area Manager direction.
