Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Associate capable of serving as cashier and stocker, stepping in for the Store Manager when needed. You will support plan-o-gram programs, stock merchandise, and deliver exceptional customer service to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will handle cash, operate the register, assist customers, and help maintain a clean, organized store. The role requires teamwork and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers and related hardware.
• Knowledge of safety, cash, and loss-prevention policies.
• Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
• Familiarity with plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and receive shipments according to store procedures.
• Stock, rotate, and face merchandise on shelves; build displays.
• Restock returned merchandise and manage inventory flow.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Provide excellent customer service and help customers locate items.
• Operate register, process payments, and bag merchandise.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety; set up displays.
• Open/close store under direction of Area Manager.
• In manager's absence, handle refunds, cash, deposits, and paperwork.
