Job summary

Discord is seeking a senior leader to guide a team of data analysts, scientists, and researchers focused on threats and abuse. You will define a strategic roadmap and work with product, engineering, policy, legal, and revenue to implement safety-by-design solutions.

The role emphasizes automation, experimentation, and collaboration with the safety ML team to translate threat signals into durable countermeasures. Base US salary ranges from $220k to $275k with equity and benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of people management experience leading technical teams (engineers, data scientists, analysts, or equivalent).
• 4+ years in a Trust & Safety domain such as fraud, spam, or related high-volume threats.
• Fluency in SQL and/or Python for data investigation and pattern analysis.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with expertise in measurement and experimentation.
• Experience driving automation adoption within operations or incident response workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, scientists, and researchers who investigate active threats, identify platform abuse vectors, and uncover adversarial patterns.
• Define a strategic roadmap that prioritizes and disrupts the highest impact abuse operations through structured research, analyses, and live experimentation.
• Collaborate with the safety machine learning team to improve models by identifying threat signals that translate into long-term, automated countermeasures.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Policy, Legal, and Revenue, influencing safety-by-design decisions upstream of abuse.
• Influence capacity toward high-impact infrastructure, such as automated rule engines, ML models, or agent moderation tools.
