Job summary

Horrocks Engineers is seeking a Professional Engineer for Roadway based in Salt Lake City, UT. The role leads design and analysis of freeways, interchanges, and urban/rural roadways, with ownership from start to finish.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of roadway experience, PE licensure, and solid knowledge of AASHTO criteria and DOT standards. Collaborative, detail-oriented team player required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license in state of employment or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• 5–10 years of experience in roadway transportation engineering.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams.
• Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria.
• Proficiency using Bentley and/or Autodesk civil design software.
• Knowledge of DOT standards and plan preparation procedures.
• Drainage design and/or traffic engineering experience is a plus.
• Solid written and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment.

Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails.
• Prepare studies, reports, memos, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Lead roadway design discipline and coordinate other design disciplines on projects under a Project Manager.
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and subconsultant management.
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish with attention to quality, budget and schedule.
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success.
