Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to support the Nurse Manager in daily patient care operations and to lead a unit-based team toward high-quality outcomes. The ANM will oversee staffing, assignments, rounds, education, and regulatory compliance while fostering collaboration among physicians, staff, and families.

The role requires a BSN, Virginia RN licensure, BLS and ACLS credentials, and at least two years of staff nursing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school is required.
• Valid RN license from Virginia or reciprocal compact state.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• AHA ACLS Provider required within 6 months.
• Certification within clinical area of responsibility preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ staff nurse experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct oversight of clinical care delivery with the Nurse Manager.
• Provides shift leadership for unit to ensure 24/7 coverage.
• Adjusts staffing resources to meet patient care needs.
• Allocates patient assignments per licensure and scope of practice.
• Completes daily rounds on associates and patients, including off-shifts.
• Ensures completion of daily regulatory and safety tasks.
• Liaises between physicians, departments, patients, and families.
• Assists with education and orientation for new associates.
• Reviews competencies and supports performance evaluations.
• Participates in interview process and engagement action plans.
