Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Professional Staff Nurse who provides and coordinates nursing care for a group of patients, using independent judgment and collaboration with the care team. Qualifications

• BSN preferred.
• Zero to two years of experience.
• Current RN licensure in the applicable state.

Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains productive working relationships with patients, families and colleagues, ensuring accountability and safe practice.
• Applies adult learning principles to teach patients, families, students and new staff and may serve as a preceptor.
• Applies the nursing process within the Relationship Based Care framework to create a healing, patient-centered environment.
• Demonstrates accountability for professional development and participates in unit-based governance and quality initiatives.
• Identifies opportunities for quality improvement and contributes to multidisciplinary rounds to improve patient care and satisfaction.
• Assesses patients across the lifespan and responds to age-specific needs as outlined in department policy.
