Job summary

CarMax Schaumburg is seeking a Sales Manager Trainee to join a six-to-nine‑month structured program that prepares you for a future Sales Manager role. You will learn in-store and through business rotations, working with seasoned managers and sales consultants to drive exceptional customer experiences.

You will lead a commissioned sales team, coach peers, analyze performance data, and push for strong sales results while upholding CarMax values and a people-first culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of management experience with a proven track record of success.
• Experience in a sales-driven environment with strong performance results.
• Ability to execute long- and short-term sales strategies effectively.
• Skilled in developing action plans to drive team performance.
• Strong ability to communicate clearly and influence others.
• Ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support store operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a commissioned sales team to achieve strong results for your location
• Collaborate with other sales managers to drive overall store performance and foster continuous improvement through coaching and feedback
• Recognize individual team member goals and create tailored development plans
• Analyze and track sales performance metrics to meet and exceed targets
• Identify opportunities and solve challenges to ensure an exceptional customer experience
• Champion CarMax values and initiatives to maintain a people‑first culture
• Foster continuous improvement through coaching and feedback
• Responsible for CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements for your department and/or location, including workplace safety.
