Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Cashier/Stocker with lead responsibilities in the absence of store management. The role focuses on customer service, plan‑o‑grams, and efficient store operations to maximize profitability and minimize losses.

Responsibilities include unloading and stocking, operating the register, assisting customers, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting store security and cash controls. Prior supervisory exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for transactions and discounts.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Experience using IBM cash registers and related POS functions.
• Understanding of safety controls and cash handling policies.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow plan‑o‑gram and merchandising presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise, build displays and maintain plan‑o‑grams.
• Operate cash register, total purchases, bag items, and collect payment.
• Help customers locate merchandise and maintain store cleanliness and safety.
• Assist in cashier accountability, key control and cash levels; support in deposits.
• Open/close store under district direction and maintain store appearance.
