Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a capable Cashier/Stocker with lead responsibilities when the Store Manager is away. The role emphasizes customer service excellence, stock replenishment, and adherence to company procedures to maximize profitability and minimize losses.

You will unload shipments, stock shelves, assist customers, and maintain store standards. A high school diploma and some supervisory exposure are preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math operations (add/subtract/percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions.
• Familiarity with cash, safety policies and store security practices.
• Strong interpersonal and writing communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-grams and merchandise presentation.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and unpack cartons per store process.
• Stock, rotate and face merchandise on shelves; build displays.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Greet customers and help locate merchandise.
• Operate register, tally purchases, and bag items; provide change.
• Maintain clean, safe front-end area and stockroom.
• Ensure cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Open/close store under Area Manager direction when needed.
