Job summary

Shoe Carnival is seeking a dependable and energetic Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily store operations, act as a key holder, and support the team in delivering a fun, customer-first experience.

In this full-time role, you will lead customer service efforts, train associates, support the General Manager to reach sales goals, and ensure proper cash handling, loss prevention, and visual presentation.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and team supervision abilities.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience in retail or customer-facing roles.
• Ability to train and mentor staff.
• Familiarity with key holder responsibilities is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the store as a key holder.
• Support the General Manager in reaching sales goals.
• Lead customer service efforts and resolve issues professionally.
• Train and guide associates on processes and standards.
• Delegate daily tasks and coordinate breaks.
• Assist with visual merchandising and store presentation.
• Perform register overrides, safe/till counts, and cash reconciliation.
• Follow and promote loss prevention procedures.
