Steak ’n Shake is seeking a Shift Manager at our Indianapolis location. Lead daily restaurant operations, coach team members, and ensure high-quality service and adherence to brand standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage openings/closings, mentor staff, and maintain a positive guest experience.

Excellent communication, reliability, and flexibility— including nights and weekends—are essential. US work authorization and a High School Diploma or equivalent are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• US work authorization required.
• Prior supervisory/restaurant management experience preferred.
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong guest service focus and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily restaurant operations with energy, confidence, and accountability.
• Ensure strong openings and closings by setting up the team for success.
• Set the tone for the shift—motivate and coach team members for success.
• Deliver fast, friendly, and accurate service that exceeds guest expectations.
• Ensure all brand standards are met; maintain cleanliness, food safety, and quality.
• Handle opening and closing duties, including key-holder responsibilities.
• Count drawers, manage deposits, and finalize end-of-day reports.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with guests and team members.
• Support training and onboarding of new team members.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented environment built on trust and respect.
• Step into any station as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
