Job summary

Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. is assisting with the placement of a Lead HVAC Service Technician for a growing HVAC contractor in Milwaukee. This hands-on leadership role focuses on diagnosing and repairing residential systems while mentoring junior technicians.

You will train others, manage on-call rotations, and ensure safety and code compliance on all jobs. A valid driver's license and EPA 608 Type II certification are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of residential HVAC service and repair experience.
• EPA 608 Type II certification required.
• HVAC technical school training or apprenticeship is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company service vehicle.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Mentoring/training or supporting other technicians is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, combustion, airflow, and system performance issues.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to other technicians in the field.
• Perform preventative maintenance, tune-ups, inspections, and system cleanings.
• Use HVAC diagnostic equipment including multimeters, refrigerant gauges, combustion analyzers, leak detectors, and airflow measurement tools.
• Test systems after repairs to ensure proper operation, efficiency, and safety.
• Explain HVAC issues and repair options clearly to homeowners and customers.
• Educate customers on system operation, maintenance, efficiency improvements, and IAQ options.
• Document service calls, repairs, parts used, and recommendations accurately.

We’re working with a growing HVAC contractor looking for an experienced Lead HVAC Service Technician to join their team. This is a hands-on residential service role with leadership responsibilities, where you’ll diagnose and repair HVAC systems while also helping train and support other technicians in the field.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of residential HVAC service and repair experience.
• Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems, tools, and diagnostic procedures.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, combustion, and airflow issues.
• Ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Previous experience mentoring, training, or supporting other technicians is a plus.
• EPA 608 Type II certification required.
• HVAC technical school training or apprenticeship is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company service vehicle.
• Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Comfortable working on ladders up to 30 feet.
• Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and other physically demanding environments.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
