Job summary

Vinfen in Hanson, MA is seeking a Residential Counselor to support Persons Served in an Intensive GLE residential setting. You will assist with treatment plan implementation, coordinate with the Clinical Program Director, and help PS access medical and psychiatric care.

Responsibilities include safety, group facilitation, meal prep, documentation, and collaboration with families and staff to promote recovery and independent living.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate’s degree in a human service discipline preferred.
• One year experience as a residential counselor or related experience in a setting working with PS facing mental health challenges and medical issues preferred.
• One to two years of job-specific experience in human services field preferred.
• Bilingual/bicultural applicants and applicants with lived experience of psychiatric conditions are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Orient PS new to the residence.
• Implement PS Treatment Plan interventions as coached and supported by the Clinical Program Director.
• Perform day-to-day assignments as directed by the Clinical Program Director.
• Use recovery-oriented, person-centered, harm-reduction, trauma-informed, culturally competent approaches with PS.
• Adhere to safety, maintenance, Human Rights and other operational policies and procedures.
• Assume role of Medication Officer, Safety Officer, Human Rights Officer as assigned by the Program Director – based on shift schedule.
• Schedule and facilitate weekly PS group meetings in the residence.
• Perform primary grocery shopping weekly or as needed for the residence.
• Comply with physical site licensing standards and regulations.
• Distribute and manage PS medication per MAP requirements and train PS in medication management.
• Assist PS in attending regular medical and psychiatric appointments.
• Create opportunities for PS to participate in residence operations.
• Encourage social interaction and collaboration with PS, family, friends and others in PS lives.
• Serve as a resource for neighbors.
• Assist with meal preparation.
• Advocate for PS and promote access to healthcare and employment services.
• Support evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Housing First, Stages of Change, Seeking Safety and CBT.
• Participate in trainings; attend supervision and staff meetings as requested.
• Assist the Program Director with orientation of new staff.
• Complete all required documentation.
• Contribute to quality improvement goals.
• Assist PS with crisis intervention and access on-call backup as needed.
• Complete incident documentation as needed.
• Perform maintenance tasks and related duties as assigned.
