Job summary

Burdett Hill Group in Irvine, CA seeks an experienced Residential Architecture Project Manager to lead projects from concept through construction administration, ensuring design fidelity and quality. You will collaborate with Principals, internal design teams, consultants, and clients to maintain project schedules, budgets, and permitting compliance across all phases.

This role emphasizes mentorship of staff, cross‑discipline coordination, and opportunities for professional growth and licensure

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in residential architecture and project management.
• Demonstrated experience managing architectural projects through all phases of design and construction.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, detailing, and building systems.
• Working knowledge of the California Building Code, residential design standards, zoning requirements, and local permitting processes.
• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams and manage client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple residential architectural projects, including single-family detached and multifamily developments, from schematic design through construction administration.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors, maintaining clear communication and strong working relationships.
• Establish and monitor project schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables to ensure projects remain on track and within established parameters.
• Coordinate internal design teams to maintain design intent, technical accuracy, documentation quality, and consistency across project phases.
• Review and manage construction documents, specifications, and consultant drawings to ensure completeness, coordination, and quality.
• Ensure project designs comply with applicable California Building Code requirements, local zoning ordinances, residential design standards, and permitting requirements.
• Lead project meetings, document decisions, track action items, resolve outstanding issues, and communicate project status to Principals and stakeholders.
• Guide, mentor, and oversee Job Captains and architectural staff, supporting professional development and maintaining project standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency, evaluate design alternatives, and resolve technical, design, and construction-related challenges.
• Participate in site visits, construction observation, and coordination with contractors to help ensure work aligns with approved documents and design intent.
