Job summary

Duke Energy, based in Charlotte, NC, seeks a Lead Accounting professional within the Carolinas Accounting & Reporting team to ensure GAAP and FERC compliance. You will lead complex analyses, manage multiple reporting streams, and drive process improvements across regulatory accounting functions.

You will collaborate with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Rates & Regulatory, Tax, and external auditors, guiding the team through SOX testing and data requests while delivering accurate management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or closely related discipline
• Five or more years of diverse or complex experience in related field beyond degree
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance principles to complete complex assignments
• Experience with financial systems (Wdesk, OneStream, PeopleSoft, CAPS Online) and advanced MS Office tools

Responsibilities

• Solve complex regulatory accounting issues with GAAP and FERC alignment
• Manage multiple fast-paced, high-visibility work streams and reporting to management
• Drive continuous process improvement across regulatory accounting functions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Tax, and External auditors
• Provide leadership oversight to accounting team on internal reporting and deferrals
• Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment and project management
• Conduct detailed research and analysis on regulatory and accounting matters
• Provide clear, proactive communication with leadership and teams
