Job summary

City of Albuquerque's Solid Waste Collections Department seeks a skilled equipment operator to backfill routes and operate side loaded, rear, front, and roll-off refuse trucks. You will perform pre-trip inspections, tow recovery tasks, and assist with maintenance of heavy collection vehicles while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities include loading recyclables, coordinating with supervisors, and training new staff on vehicle operation and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CDL Class A license required; 3 years driving experience with various vehicles.
• Automotive/transportation coursework preferred.

Responsibilities

• Backfill residential/commercial refuse and recycling routes.
• Operate and control PTOs for various truck types; load and haul refuse and recyclables.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; assist with minor repairs and maintenance.
• Tow recovery of heavy-duty vehicles; coordinate with safety coordinators for safe recovery.
