Job summary

CoolSys is seeking a Lead Apprentice/Journeyman for on-site HVAC/refrigeration projects in Massachusetts. You will lead, train, and mentor the project crew, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time completion across diverse projects.

Required are 5+ years in commercial construction and a Mass RT license; you will manage costs, coordinate with trades, and uphold company policies while advancing with a nationwide HVAC provider.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade program or technical school preferred.
• 5+ years in commercial building construction or related trades.
• Ability to organize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Able to supervise apprentices and journeymen on projects.
• Ability to follow safety policies and maintain PPE usage.
• Knowledge of project planning software (Projectmates) and basic computer tools.
• Willingness to work across multiple projects and sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor the project crew.
• Prioritize and delegate responsibilities.
• Communicate with tradespeople on site.
• Track project schedules to ensure timely completion.
• Serve as lead technical resource on assigned projects.
• Report on job status and performance.
• Control job costs.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with peers, customers, GCs, and subcontractors.
• Ensure PPE use and safe behavior.
• Ensure compliance with installation policies and procedures.
• Oversee 3rd party resources.
• Direct and oversee work of other Apprentices and journeymen.
