Job summary

Target's Properties team seeks a Lead Refrigeration Engineer to drive the strategy, design, and commissioning of refrigeration systems across our retail stores. You will set engineering standards and collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver safe, reliable, and energy-efficient solutions.

You will mentor engineers, stay ahead of emerging technologies, and ensure lifecycle performance. The role includes travel up to 25%, and may be remote or hybrid depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• 7+ years of experience with refrigeration-focused engineering work.
• Expert knowledge of design, operation, commissioning, and lifecycle performance.
• Experience in field coordination and issue resolution on refrigeration projects.
• Knowledge of refrigeration controls, energy efficiency, and regulations.
• Understanding of commercial building design and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Proficiency with CAD and BIM tools (Revit) for construction documents.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise refrigeration design standards and provide technical leadership.
• Develop refrigeration equipment specs and engineering criteria.
• Oversee installation coordination and on-site problem solving.
• Mentor engineers and influence cross-functional decisions.
