Job summary

SSOE Group seeks a Refrigeration Specialist (Engineer) in Phoenix to lead refrigeration system design for industrial and commercial projects from concept through construction. You will apply expertise in ammonia, CO2, glycol, and other refrigerants to deliver energy-efficient, code-compliant solutions while mentoring project teams.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, present technical solutions to clients, and support commissioning and field activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
6+ years of experience in refrigeration system design, engineering, or consulting.
Strong knowledge of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems and equipment.
Experience with refrigeration load calculations, piping design, equipment selection, and controls integration.
Working knowledge of IIAR, ASHRAE, IMC, and related standards.
Proficiency with engineering calculations and design software.

Responsibilities

Lead refrigeration system design activities throughout planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Coordinate refrigeration designs with mechanical, electrical, process, structural, architectural, and controls disciplines.
Prepare and review refrigeration load calculations, equipment schedules, piping layouts, and P&IDs.
Develop and review Basis of Design documents and construction drawings; support cost estimating and scheduling.
Participate in design reviews, constructability evaluations, and value engineering efforts.
Collaborate with clients to understand requirements and communicate technical solutions.
