Job summary

Petroplan is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to plan, manage, and execute capital and maintenance projects within a refinery environment. You will oversee fixed and rotating equipment, piping, terminals, utilities, and unit modifications from concept through commissioning and startup.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical engineering and project management background, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 8 years of project management experience in heavy industrial facilities.
• Experience leading projects from FEL/FEED through construction and startup.
• Experience managing contractors, engineering firms, and construction teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital and expense projects from conception through startup and closeout.
• Develop project scopes, estimates, schedules, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, operations, maintenance, and contractor activities.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project execution.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables, specifications, and contractor work packages.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and risk mitigation plans.
• Support HAZOP, PSSR, MOC, and process safety initiatives.
• Manage construction activities and contractor performance in the field.
• Ensure compliance with refinery safety requirements, OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Coordinate commissioning, startup, and turnover activities.
• Provide routine project status updates to management and stakeholders.
