Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the Engineering/Projects group. This role will oversee the development and execution of small-to-mid-sized capital projects, working closely with engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure high-quality project deliverables. The PM will not perform hands‑on engineering or drafting but will be responsible for managing the teams and processes that produce engineering packages.
The ideal candidate brings strong refinery project experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage capital and expense projects from early development through execution and closeout within the refinery.
- Work with mechanical, process, and multi‑discipline engineers to develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Oversee designers and drafters in the creation of engineering/drafting packages; ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with refinery standards.
- Facilitate project documentation, design reviews, constructability reviews, and gate approvals.
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Construction, and Safety teams to support project planning and execution.
- Drive project progress, monitor deliverables, track budgets, and report status to engineering and project leadership.
- Manage contractor interfaces when required, including engineering firms and construction contractors.
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of project management experience, ideally within a refinery or petrochemical operating facility.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical/Process Engineering preferred.
- Candidates without a degree must have extensive, heavy refinery project experience.
- Experience leading cross‑functional engineering and drafting/design teams.
- Strong understanding of refinery operations, turnaround activities, and capital project lifecycles.
- Proficiency in managing engineering packages, coordinating design deliverables, and supporting project development.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
