Job summary

The Morristown & Morris Township Library seeks a full-time Head of Reference and Adult Services to lead a team of three reference librarians and four reader’s advisors. You will oversee collection development, reference and database services, and the Library website, while coordinating outreach and public programming.

Ideal candidates hold an MLS/MLIS, have at least five years in Reference or Adult Services and two to five years of management, and demonstrate strong communication, tech skills

Qualifications

• MLS/M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. degree required.
• Minimum five years’ experience in Reference or Adult Services in a public library.
• Two to five years of management experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with library software such as ILS and room reservation systems; web tools including Canva and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Reference and Adult Services Department and supervise librarians and staff.
• Oversee adult collection development for eBooks, fiction, non-fiction, streaming, and databases.
• Manage outreach, public programming, and website updates; support ILS development and security systems.
