This role involves performing a variety of shipping and receiving tasks. You will maintain accurate records of all materials received, inspect shipments, reconcile packing slips or manifests with actual items, and verify that materials are delivered to the correct departments or properly stored in the warehouse. You will also prepare items for shipment, ensuring cost-effective courier services. The role includes leading shipping and receiving personnel and overseeing the entire shipping and receiving process.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and unload incoming materials, compare quantities on packing slips with actual items received and purchase orders.
  • Prepare bills of lading, check, and record all shipped items.
  • Prepare shipments, determine the most economical shipping method, select appropriate containers, and pack items securely.
  • Maintain shipping records, including returned goods and shipping materials.
  • Inspect items, report damages, and coordinate returns.
  • Enter receipt of goods into computerized inventory records.
  • Operate equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
  • Spot-check inventory daily and reconcile records with physical stock.
  • Provide advice on supplies and property, coordinate disposal of surplus items, and manage record retention.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the receiving area and optimize workload procedures.

Skills to Help You Succeed:

  • Data entry and routine administrative skills.
  • Ability to work under time pressures.
  • Analytical skills to interpret departmental needs and results.
  • Ability to verify numbers and check shipments.
  • Knowledge of postal and commercial shipping methods.
  • Understanding and following safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of Alcohol Beverage Control laws, OSHA, health, and gaming regulations.
  • Leadership skills to guide and train staff.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years’ experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse techniques, and supervision.
  • Two-year degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work in environments with alcohol and smoking.
  • Must obtain and maintain licensure as required by regulatory authorities.
