JPMorganChase within Global Technology seeks a Lead Software Engineer to lead and mentor an agile team to architect, design, and deliver trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, scalable way. You will build low-latency Python applications for intraday risk and PnL in a fast-paced front-office setting.

The role covers data ingestion, calculation services, UI, and operational tooling to ensure performance, correctness, and resiliency under tight timelines and high business impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on coding in Java or Python for production services and high-performance apps.
• Financial markets background with rates or PnL experience.
• Proven track record in system design, development, testing, and running complex initiatives.
• Strong understanding of real-time, distributed systems concepts (concurrency, messaging, caching, failure modes).
• Experience delivering software in a large corporate environment with engineering standards (SDLC, security).
• Practical experience with CI/CD, production monitoring, and incident response.
• Proven ability to lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes under time pressure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Python-based live risk and PnL applications, driving iterative improvements across product teams.
• Partner directly with Rates traders and stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable, low-latency technical solutions.
• Drive decisions on software solutions, architecture, design, development, and troubleshooting with focus on production excellence.
• Design and implement secure, high-quality production code with emphasis on performance and stability.
• Own architecture and design artefacts for complex real-time systems, ensuring latency, throughput, and availability requirements.
• Build and improve monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks; participate in production support/incident management as needed.
• Collaborate with DevOps and platform partners to improve CI/CD, deployment automation, and environment reliability.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers through code reviews and best-practice guidance.
• Identify systemic issues like technical debt and data quality gaps and drive remediation aligned to long-term goals.
• Influence and shape a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
