Job summary

Alstom in New Castle, DE seeks a Lead Design Engineer to advance testability and repairability for NGHST and legacy Acela programs. You will guide design decisions, develop bench testing, and conduct make-vs-buy analyses, reporting to the NGHST Project Engineering Manager.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering leadership, collaboration across teams, and delivering reliable rail components while expanding your expertise in high-speed rail systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with strong electrical background.
• Experience in system engineering across rail or heavy industry.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, PCB design exposure.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in engineering related field.
• Experience in at least one specialized rail area (hydraulic, pneumatic, electronics/electrical, doors, signaling, HVAC, or mechanical).
• Hands-on experience with railway equipment desirable.
• Knowledge of railway systems is desirable.
• Ability to think strategically about systems.
• Leadership or mentoring ability to guide a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage testability and repairability for components on NGHST and Legacy Acela.
• Develop test procedures and specify bench test equipment.
• Manage cost by performing make vs by analysis.
• Perform failure analysis for components under repair.
