Job summary

Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced Senior Radiation Therapist to lead and mentor in a Galveston oncology department. The role focuses on accurate delivery of complex treatments, QA, and collaboration with physicians, physicists, and leadership to ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

The position is onsite, weekday-based with a competitive hourly pay starting at $59/hour, offering stability and opportunities for clinical leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of progressive experience as a Radiation Therapist.
• Experience with Varian radiation therapy equipment.
• Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) and ARRT certification required.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Operate radiation therapy treatment machines and CT simulators to deliver prescribed doses.
• Rotate across therapy units and simulation equipment following established protocols.
• Interpret and implement complex physician prescriptions and treatment plans.
• Maintain, audit and file electronic treatment records and documentation.
• Ensure radiation safety standards for patients, staff and trainees.
• Provide mentorship and clinical oversight to therapists and students.
• Monitor patient status during treatment and manage interruptions as needed.
• Educate patients and families on treatment procedures and expectations.
• Support QA activities including machine performance monitoring and calibration.
• Collaborate with medical and physics teams to ensure accurate dose delivery.
• Assist with workflow coordination, scheduling and patient throughput.
