McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a board-certified radiation therapist to administer daily treatments and oversee treatment quality. The role requires leadership experience and a solid track record in patient care, QA, and documentation.

You will work under a Manager and Medical Director, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective care for patients of all ages. Schedule is full-time with day shifts and no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in radiation therapy is required.
• Board certification in radiation therapy (ARRT) is required.
• BLS certification as healthcare provider (or within 6 months).
• Five years of experience as a board-certified radiation therapist, including two years in leadership.

Responsabilités

• Administers daily radiation treatments and simulations as prescribed by the oncologist.
• Performs QA testing on the linear accelerator for accuracy of treatments.
• Reviews patient charts, monitors status, and verifies charges for services.
• Maintains treatment room flow and prepares equipment to meet patient treatment requirements.
• Explains procedures to patients and communicates during treatment, including emergency procedures.
• Trains and orients new staff and participates in quality control initiatives.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and contributes to process improvements.

Description du poste

Works under the leadership of the Manager and Medical Director to provide, to patients of all ages, patient care and care support processes of radiation treatments, patient education, comfort/pain management, psychosocial management, wound/skin management and documentation in as safe, timely, accurate and cost effective manner.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Administers daily radiation treatments and perform simulations as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
• Performs quality assurance testing on linear accelerator to ensure accurate treatments.
• Reviews patient charts and updates as needed to keep current. Monitors patients and reports changes to others. Reviews and verifies all charges for services rendered.
• Monitors patient and provides assistance as necessary to facilitate comfort during patient treatments. Documents all treatments, observations and changes in patient status
• Maintains schedule and treatment room flow to ensure all patients are treated in a timely manner. Prepares room and equipment to meet specific treatment requirements of each patient.
• Explains procedure to patient, means of communication during treatment and procedure to follow if emergency arises during treatment.
• Participates in port film imaging and monitors source to skin distances daily for changes for patient quality assurance purposes.
• Maintains patient markings so as to enhance treatment reproducibility.
• Obtains diode reading for each field on each patient for beam quality assurance.
• Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
• Assists in quality control and performance improvement activities.
• Contributes to performance feedback, hiring decisions.
• Ensures standards are met (quality, timeliness, customer service, etc.).
• Evaluates and tests new procedures/processes.
• Orients and/or trains new staff.
• Problem solving capabilities.
• Subject matter expert/technical leadership.
• Work flow/distribution of work.
• Assists in assuring compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws, and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate degree in radiation therapy.
• Board certified in radiation therapy from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• BLS certification as healthcare provider or obtains within 6 months of employment as a radiation therapist.
• Five years prior experience working as a board-certified radiation therapist, including two years of demonstrated leadership.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in radiation therapy.
• Active member of the American Society of Radiation Therapists (ASRT)
