Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with Radiation Safety qualifications.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal radiation safety regulations.
• Experience operating radiation monitoring equipment and issuing work permits.
• Ability to access and interpret radiological data and regulations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to train staff.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Radiation Safety Program in the field and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor radiological work controls and activities involving radioactive material.
• Process shipments, perform wipe tests, and verify contamination/dose levels.
• Issue radiation work permits and brief personnel on conditions.
• Maintain records, enter data in the HIS-20 system, and generate management reports.
• Train Radiation Safety Technician staff and supervise field activities.
• Respond to incidents, perform area surveys, and support emergency drills.
