Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Radiation Protection Program Supervisor to lead inspection programs and develop staff skills in radiation safety. The role oversees materials and x-ray inspection programs, guides inspectors, and participates in drills for radiological emergencies.

The position supports regulation development, data management, and administrative oversight. Telework may be possible part-time; typical schedule is full-time, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with in-office work at Harrisburg

Qualifications

• Three years of professional experience in recognition, evaluation and control of radiation hazards with NRRT or equivalent.
• Two years with ABHP certification as a health physicist or two years as Radiation Health Physicist 2.
• Four years of professional experience in recognition, evaluation and control of radiation hazards with relevant bachelor’s degree or major coursework.

Responsibilities

• Program Oversight: Manage radioactive materials and non-medical x-ray inspection programs in the Central Field Division
• Staff Guidance: Assign inspections, review work products, and support qualification requirements for inspectors
• Emergency Response: Participate in drills and respond to radiological emergencies across the Commonwealth
• Regulation Support: Assist with developing regulations, policies, and procedures for radiological activities
• Administrative Review: Approve leave requests, timesheets, and training submissions for staff
• Data Management: Maintain accurate entries in departmental electronic data systems to meet quality standards
